About Jackie

Jackie is dressed in a green winter jacket, black trousers and a grey hat. She is standing in a tree, spreading her arms wide and smiling.

Hi. I'm Jackie, a yoga teacher living in south-west London, teaching a variety of styles of yoga. I taught regular in-person classes until March 2020, when I moved to live-streamed classes, connecting with students wherever they had access to broadband.

Now restrictions have lifted in the UK, I am continuing with live-streamed classes, including an online Chair Yoga class in collaboration with Serenity Space, but am back teaching in-person classes in Raynes Park, as well as classes in Mitcham for Age UK Merton.

I am a Triyoga yoga teacher with a regular classes in Ealing and Chelsea, plus am a cover teacher for The Light Centre, London. I am an accessible yoga teacher for Everyone Health, plus I have had the honour of assisting Anna Ashby on her Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Course at Triyoga.

I enjoy city life but also love to spend time out in the fresh air in green spaces.

I have been practising yoga regularly for nearly 30 years, taking classes in a number of different styles, and know how much it has helped me through life’s many changes.

Prior to teaching yoga I worked for 38 years in the corporate world, including over two decades in the demanding environment of administration within the financial industry. This gave me first-hand experience of how yoga can aid in managing and reducing levels of stress, as well as helping with focus and concentration.

Yoga is for all stages of life. My mother practised for most of her adult life and I had the privilege and joy of attending yoga classes with her when she was in her 80s. It is her influence, as well as the writings of Desikachar, that have shaped my non-dogmatic and inclusive style of teaching.

Teaching PEOPLE, Not Postures

I teach a number of different styles, as we have different requirements at different times. However, all my classes focus on adapting the posture to fit the individual’s needs, rather than trying to force the body into a prescribed shape.

This is why I have been described as the “Queen of Options”, giving many alternatives for every posture, encouraging students to explore the most effective variation for their own bodies.

I am constantly learning, deepening my knowledge of the rich history and philosophy of yoga, as well as learning as much as I can about our bodies, minds and emotions. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see some of my qualifications, trainings and affiliations.
